Highlights

Real fishing, on your port day

If you're cruising into Juneau for the day, this trip is built for you. The half-day fly fishing window — about 3.5 hours on the water — fits a typical Juneau port stop with plenty of time on either end to get back to your ship comfortably.

We pick you up at the cruise terminal area, drive a short distance to nearby streams or beaches, put a fly rod in your hand, and have you back well before sail-away. No boats, no offshore weather concerns, no being stuck with strangers. Just real Alaska fishing, designed around your day.

What to Bring

Cruise passengers don't need to bring much — your ship's day-bag essentials cover most of it:

  • Comfortable layered clothing (it can be cool and wet)

  • Closed-toe shoes for the trip to and from the water

  • A light rain jacket if you have one (we have spares)

  • Your Alaska sport fishing license — purchase online before arrival

  • Phone or camera for catch photos

  • Driver's license or passport (worth having when off the ship anyway)

Why this beats a big-boat charter

Most cruise-day fishing in Juneau means an expensive offshore charter boat with five other people, two hours of running time before any actual fishing happens, and a real risk of weather pushing you outside your port window. Ours is different on every count:

  • Wade fishing means no offshore weather risk. If it's pouring, we still fish. If it's blowing 30 knots offshore, doesn't matter — we're on a stream or beach.

  • No shared boat. Maximum 4 anglers, always your group. No strangers, no waiting your turn.

  • Short transit times. Five to ten minutes from cruise terminal to fishing water, vs. 60+ minutes each way for offshore charters.

  • Built around your schedule. We know cruise sail-away times. Your trip is structured to get you back early, not "right at the deadline."

  • Real fishing. Streams and estuaries hold sea-run trout, char, and salmon depending on the season. You'll catch fish in scenery you'd pay separately to see.

Cruise-Specific FAQ

  • Let us know as soon as you can. We can usually adjust the trip start time. Your trip is private, so we have flexibility a group tour wouldn't.

  • Yes. We schedule with a generous buffer before sail-away. If your ship sails at 8pm, your trip ends with hours to spare. Tell us your sail-away time at booking and we'll build the day around it.

  • We can meet at any of Juneau's main cruise terminals — AJ Dock, Franklin Dock, or the downtown waterfront. Tell us which terminal your ship is using when you book and we'll confirm the meeting spot.

  • Cancellation policy is on the FAQ page. For genuine cruise itinerary changes outside your control, we work with you on rescheduling.

  • Absolutely. Many of our cruise-day clients are first-time anglers. Dominick teaches as you fish — no prior experience required.

  • Yes. Alaska requires every angler 16 and older to have a sport fishing license. You can buy one online here — non-resident 1-day or 3-day options are perfect for cruise passengers.
